It's 12:30... do you know where your puppies are?

How stinkin cute is this?

I have a feeling that Buddy is at home right now sprawled out on the leather couch, with a roaring fire. Possible he's eating a steak & smoking a cigar. Lily is most likely laying near the front gate (on cold, wet concrete) waiting for daddy to come home. Buddy is obviously the smart one.

In the Kitchen with Chicken

So I was checking out this new Asian market down the street. In their meat case I come across some sausage labeled Longanisa. Since we all know how much the man loves Lunguica, I figured this should be similar, so I bought some.
Back from the store a quick google search tells me I've just bought a sweet Filipino breakfast sausage. Damn. I was thinking (hoping?) it would be spicy. And appropriate for dinner.
More googling tells me I should serve this with fried rice & eggs.
Fred, from the other room, "I've never had rice with eggs."
I frown, and improvise.

What we learned: This stuff makes a hell of a mess. I cooked it as I would Italian sausage & I was left with a black sticky mess in the bottom of the pan after browning. So black & sticky I thought I would need to buy a new pan. We think there must be honey in these? They are SUPER sweet. Since we're not really the "maple syrup" sausage type people, we will pass on these in the future.

In the Kitchen with Chicken

So I saw Paula Deen make a recipe the other day that did not involve 4 lbs of butter. It was a Pumpkin Apple Butter Pie. I had to try it.

The pie was good, but we decided for Turkey Day we will stick with the traditional pumpkin pie.

1. Pumpkin Porter, 2. Sunset Amber, 3. Wild Blue, 4. Pumpkin Spice Latte

Under the Weather

I woke up yesterday feeling like my cold was coming back..... I decided I was obviously vitamin deficient, so I headed to the store to make up for that. So many choices.....

Or maybe I just have Valley Fever. Wonder how many Flintstones that will take to cure?

I have a Stalker....

Dear Arizona Democratic Party,
Please stop calling. Please don't send anymore gray- haired campaign volunteers to my home. Please don't have Bill Clinton, Gen. Wesley Clark or Gov Napolitano call me anymore.
I know today is election day.
I know where my polling place is.
I know to complete both sides of my ballot.
I know to sign the outside of my absentee ballot.

Yours Truly,
I don't vote down party lines

Happy Halloween

Today's high: 92.
Won't your candy melt before you get home? For this reason I will not be trick or treating this year.

Everything old is new again....

It was a pretty craptacular weekend around here, but there were 2 rays of sunshine:

1. My repaired & polished bracelet was ready for pick up at the jewelers.
(Cupcakes make me smile.)

2. My winter boots were ready for pick up at the cobbler. They were re-soled & polished. Unfortunately, it was 95 today, so they will go back in the closet for another few weeks.

Hello Winter!

Current Conditions

Heat Index:74.20°
Sunrise: 6:32am
Sunset: 5:56pm

Humidity:8%
Winds (300°):1mph
Dew Point:15.60°

My hands are so dry I can see scales in my skin. My cuticles are cracking & bleeding. My hair is flat, and static-y. I now have to use 2 different types of moisturizer on my face. My lips are chapped and feel like sandpaper. How I long for summer......

Goodbye Summer!

It's official. This summer is over.
We headed up to the Roaring Fork a couple weeks ago to catch their summer happy hour one more time. $2 rum & cokes for me, and a $7 Big Ass Burger for him. Not too hot to sit on the patio (but only in the shade).

I finally turned the A/C off yesterday. It feels good now with the windows open.

If you build it they will come.....

So they built this monstrosity out West of town in the middle of nowhere. It is supposed to look like a rattlesnake coiled around a barrel cactus.
(I just see an alien spacecraft.)

Once they built this fancy-pants,
state-of-the-art stadium; people started watching the Cardinals.
The "We've never won a Superbowl Cardinals." and the "We haven't been to the playoffs since 1998, Cardinals." Not only that, but they started buying gear. They bought jerseys & hats & face paint. (And a Cardinal outfit?) There is not one single jersey in that stadium on Sunday that is more than a year old. Just goes to show you a lot of people have more money than they have good sense.

I only went because the ticket was free. I represented with a West Virginia t-shirt & ASU crocs.

Starbucks now serving oatmeal?

I only bought it because I had a free coupon, so technically, I didn't buy it. The oatmeal comes with three little packets, one of nuts (?), one of dried fruit, and one of brown sugar. Because Starbucks is SO CONCERNED about your waistline, on the front of each little packet it indicates the calories. Interestingly, the dried fruit has more calories than the sugar. So I of course went for the dried fruit. I guess it was good, but can you really f* up oatmeal. And for their retail price ($2.45) can't you buy a whole canister of oatmeal & just add your own hot water?

Not to be outdone....

I just realized my second grade niece has a blog. Since I refuse to be outdone by a second-grader, here I am.
